The Most Exciting & Busiest Day in BLO/OUT Blow Dry Bar History!

Last Monday was New Years Eve. 2012 was disappearing and 2013 was about to hit. All the preperation, the anxiety, the fear was coming to a head, a beautifully BLO/n head!

BLO/OUT Huntingdon Valley was completely booked from morning to closing. BLO/OUT Rittenhouse was completely booked between noon and closing. Approximately 25 BLO/Litas were preparing for the craziest day they have ever experienced. 

That's exactly what they got!

Both location served hundreds of BLO/OUTs in one day... and everything went smoothly!

No technical difficulties, barely any crazy waits (a few clients waited more than I would ever like anyone to wait, but they totally understood and still loved their BLO/OUTs). Tons of BLO/Me Mosas were drunk, much of it ending up on the floor as well. Beautiful excited ladies all over the place getting ready to party the night away.

It was honestly one of the most awesome days I have ever experienced. So much great feedback, so many smiles, so much beautiful hair. We made it!

We could not have asked for a better welcoming party to Rittenhouse! Our team was awesome! Everyone worked their butts off pulling 12 hour shifts without a break! I could not be more proud of the BLO/OUT BLO/Litas and what we've built! 

It's a new year, let's make this a BLO/OUT year full of beautiful hair, happy clients and top notch customer service!

Appointments... Pshh, Who Needs Em'!

Making appointments is annoying!! Not only do I have to make an appointment, but then I have to remember it, show up at an exact time, and most likely still have to wait a bit. 

The salon industry seems to have some sort of an ego issue or a superiority complex. At Blo/Out Blow Dry Bar we are attempting to break down all of those stereotypes and introduce real service, to real people at real prices with real quality!

I'm not from the hair industry, I'm probably the farthest away from this industry one could get! I'm a straight male in my early thirties with a whole lot of business experience but not an artistic bone in my body. I have never styles anyone's hair other than my own which is relatively simple. I might be a bit metro since I do dress nicely and take care of myself, but I'm no stylist. 

Why did I decide to dive deep into the hair styling industry by founding Blo/Out Blow Dry Bar? I love the concept, love the industry, and love beautiful women.

Getting into this industry meant learning about it, and I did. I learned that stylists themselves have an air of superiority and that annoying "I'm an artist" attitude. The first thing I thought was F*#k That! This is a service business and our clients are going to experience nothing but the absolute best in customer service. If a stylist thinks he/she is too good to be respectful, professional and courteous to Blo/Out clients, that stylist does not belong here. 

So back to my hatred of appointments. As much as I love being pampered at a salon,  I hate making appointments! I'm sure in some cases they are necessary for example so that you don't have to wait for a hours, but I don't really care, hire more stylists!

So my first order of business at Blo/Out Blow Dry Bar was to get rid of the necessity of appointments. People still make appointments with us especially since we make it so easy via the web, phone or Facebook, but its usually for a specific stylist or just because its more comforting for some. 

If or when we need to start requiring appointments it means we need a bigger place or additional locations to accomodate. In the meantime we're building a mobile application that along with mobile appointment booking and cancelling it would also allow you to see in real time how many people are currently waiting for a Blo/Out if any. That way you can choose to come or not immediately. 

So we just finished our first week in business and it's been awesome! We have a great team of stylists that turned out some fabulous hair styles for our beautiful clientele! Like I've said before, I love this industry.
